eraserheads aug 30 08 CONFIRMED

Eraserheads

Eraserheads

After all the rumor mongering in blogs regarding the concert being cancelled.. well it isn’t. I just hate the way people hear about something and immediately post the information without even trying to look for confirmation.. don’t you? Tsktsk. This email is from Raymund Marasigan, posted in the official sandwich egroup so I know this is true.

After weeks of speculation, it has been semi-confirmed (anonymous reliable source) to the Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP) that Rico has left Rivermaya.

Rivermaya survived the departure of Perf de Castro, Bamboo Mañalac, and Nathan Azarcon simply because they’re not the chief songwriter,” said one music journalist.

Rico was the most important component of that band because he supplied the hits. It was the same when Ely (Buendia) left the Eraserheads. Inasmuch as the other members wanted to continue, they just found it hard to fill in that huge void,” he added.

Blanco authored most of Rivermaya’s well-loved hits such as “214,” “Bring Me Down,” “Awit ng Kabataan,” “Elesi,” “Kisapmata,” “Balisong,” and “241,” among many others.

Despite the buildup and hype around its arrival in November, the PS3 has been outsold so far — at a rate of almost 2-to-1 — by the Nintendo Wii, according to USA Today. In February, the Wii was the top-selling console video game system with an estimated 335,000 sold, outpacing the Microsoft Xbox 360 (228,000) and the PS3 (127,000), according to The NPD Group.

Check out this video I found online. It’s just waaay too great (and too funny) not to share with as many people as possible. The song is called “How to Kill a Brand” by Doc Adams, a parody sung to the tune of “How to Save a Life” by Fray. It sums up perfectly why the I’m not at all excited with the PS3. (more…)

Underwear models in the Philippine Senate. What has the world come to?

Philippine Senate

Several years ago, politicians would bring along hot models and celebrities in their roadshows to bring the crowds in. In recent years however, that trend has been declining. The tables have turned. Movie actors/actresses are getting into politics. Politicians are going into movies. What a bunch of dumb fucks.

Richard Gomez and Cesar Montano have both filed for candidacy last month much to the delight of the masses. Though they didn’t file on the same day, it was quite embarrassing hearing about Comelec and government employees going gaga over the two actors when they arrived at the office to file their Certificate of Candidacy.
