I’ll make this short and sweet. I haven’t been blogging for quite some time because I am currently was at a crossroad in my life. So many stuff happened in the past few weeks (one of them was having VIP passes to the Christina Aguilera concert – WOOT!) but I purposely held back blogging about anything until this time would come.

Yesterday, I got my Employment Pass. This makes it all fuckin real. Where am I heading?

I got the job offer last month but I didn’t want to go gagah about it until I get my EP approved. Thank God it did. I’m hopping on a plane next weekend. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

StarCraft2: Hell, It’s About Time May 19, 2007

Ohmygod. I got goosebumps when I heard the announcement.

After almost a decade of waiting for the next installment of the game, the long wait is finally over.

StarCraft 2 was officially announced by Blizzard today at the World Wide Invitational event at South Korea, the number 1 StarCraft country.

StarCraft was one of the best-selling computer games when it was released in 1998. It was so friggin good that it fast developed a cult-following worldwide. Heck, StarCraft introduced me to multiplayer games.. I’d play with my classmates over modem and even tried my hand at BattleNet. Ah, the memories…

When news about Blizzard making an announcement at the WWI event, people started talk about the announcement being the release of StarCraft2… but since rumors have been around for years we never really can tell. EVERY YEAR, there seems to be a rumor or even some sort of trailer or wallpaper that would come out… but nothing was official. They were all fan-made hoaxes. This time, it’s real. WOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

Check out the Official Trailer:

Expected release date: sometime 2008, ten years after the initial release of the original StarCraft.

I got a text this afternoon from my mother.

This is our new home phone XXX-XXXX

Hmm.. okaaaaay.. I don’t think they’ll get an additional number for the house since I’m the only one that really burns the lines anyway. We DON’T NEED an additional number.  So really, my initial reaction was… What the fuck?!? What happened to our old number?!?? (more…)

email from UNDP May 9, 2007

I’ve always left my gmail open at work and when I saw an email from UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) pop up in my inbox, I just clicked on it and didn’t really read through it.. just looked at the number of attachments and went on to my other emails. I remember applying for a position in UNDP before and I figured this was a follow up to that and I needed to answer a few questions and probably give them my available schedule for interviews.

When I got home, I told my folks about it over dinner and got pretty excited at the thought of just being considered by the UNDP. While finishing up at dinner I slipped away from the dinner table and read the UNDP email and its attachments.

PUTANGINA.  That was literally what came out of my mouth. (more…)

A Day at the Philippine National Library April 20, 2007

Posted by Me in Ohmygod Moments, Ramblings, Reading.

For a special assignment, we had to troop towards the Philippine National Library today. Though I knew it would be an easy day, I wasn’t looking forward to it because of the damn heat. I like the comfort of my own cubicle… airconditioned room, internet all day, my mp3 collection…. I didn’t want to trade that in for a day in hot, smokey Manila. Yech.

We (me plus two officemates) left the office at around 10AM and got caught in a bumper-to-bumper traffic along Roxas Blvd. No surprise there. Upon arriving at the National Library we had to register and get our own library card for 50 bucks. Think of it as a donation to the Library because when you get there you’d really feel the urge to make a donation. It was a nice building, a few decades old but sturdy. What bothered me the most was the state of the materials in the library. We made our way to the Filipiniana section, up a flight of stairs to the newspaper archives. It was a sad sight. A very very very sad sight.

Our assignment was to find a few articles with certain key words, about a particular person and some key incidents. I thought it would be pretty easy but when I entered the archive section I knew it was going to be a loooooong day for all of us.

You Shouldn’t Piss Off Potential Clients April 11, 2007

As I said in my last post, I am looking to hire a SEO Specialist locally. So as usual, I google and join relevant forums, make a small email blast and bug people in my YM:

Do you know any SEO specialists in the Philippines? I have a challenging project… will probably look great on your list of clientele too.

Though it has been around for years, not many people are familiar with SEO or Search Engine Optimization. I’ve even had techie people (programmers, web designers) ask me what it is. Sheesh. If I had time, I’d be getting into this thing.. but I digress, I shall talk about that in another post.

Anyway, we’ve met with a few people into SEO but since this is a new thing for us my boss wants to meet with several more people and pick the one we’re comfortable working with.

Personally, I think this project is a great opportunity to show how talented good you really are. And with that in mind, I’ve been asking people in my YM for recommendations… then there was Mike. (more…)

Church Defaces Their Own April 5, 2007

Posted by Me in Ohmygod Moments, Religion.

Oh. My. God.

No really. I have never seen an ugly Church but I think I might faint if I visit the Sta. Monica Church in Angat, Bulacan. I saw a picture of it in Inquirer’s front page today. It’s hiddeous I tell you. A church that’s over a hundred years old defaced by color and ugly renditions of michelangelo’s paintings on the Sistine chapel. Totally horrendous. (more…)

Hostage-Taker = Hero? DUH. March 29, 2007

Hostage-taker turns into Hero? Only in the Philippines. *cringe*

Just because the prick demanded education it doesn’t make him noble. It makes him a terrorist. An extortionist. Wake Up Philippines! In case you didn’t know, Terrorism is a term used to describe violence or other harmful acts committed (or threatened) against civilians by groups or persons for political or ideological goals. So with that in mind, HOW THE HELL can you even think that the Hostage-taker is noble in his demands?? Nobody should’ve entertained him in the first place… TV and movies have shown us to never negotiate with terrorists! The snipers should’ve shot him down when they had a clear shot of him. (more…)

How did hideous rubber shoes become a fad? March 22, 2007

Posted by Me in Funny, Ohmygod Moments, Shoes.

What. The. Fuck.

Celebrities wearing the ugliest footwear on the planetThe world has gone mad. When did it become okay for women, children, and hot celebs like Nicole Appleton and Faith Hill to skulk around in cartoon-mouse footwear?? Notice that Nicole and Faith look their ugliest in their croc-wearing-pictures on the left.

If you’ve seen Crocs on the street, you’d understand. Crocs are absolutely the ugliest footwear I’ve ever seen. Seeing hot pink crocs on a 40-something woman was beyond hilarious.. it was pitiful even. Kids wearing crocs are forgivable.. they look really cute on those tiny feet. However, if your kids look ugly then don’t even bother buying a pair. I wouldn’t pay a dime for something that costs that ugly (Php.1,800 to Php.3,000 for the ugly shoes and Php.150 to Php.250 for the accessories).

Calling Comelec an idiot would be an insult to all the stupid people.

A fellow blogger said, “I have never seen such brandishing of stupid from a government entity since the HKPD published their list of complaining citizens back in 2005“. I don’t even know if its wise to post this here but what the heck. If any of you readers work in government, PLEASE do something about this.
